Privacy & trust

You stay private until you choose.

Dealers compete for your business without ever knowing who you are. Here is exactly what they see, what they don't, and the one moment your details are shared.

The line we draw

What a dealer sees — and what they never do

Shared with dealers
  • The vehicle you want: year range, make, model, trim, condition
  • Your budget band and whether you plan to lease, finance or pay cash
  • A ZIP code and search radius, so they know whether they can deliver
  • Your timeline and must-have features
  • Whether you have a trade-in, described in general terms
  • That your account is real and your email address is confirmed (we do not verify your identity or run a credit check)
Never shared before you choose
  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your street address
  • Your credit profile or financing application
  • Any way to contact you directly
The timeline

When your information moves

While offers come in

Your request is anonymous. Dealers respond to the criteria, not to you. There is no phone number to call and no inbox to fill.

When you select an offer

You choose one dealer. Only at that moment are your name and preferred contact method released — to that dealer alone.

For every dealer you didn't pick

Their offer is marked not selected and they never receive your contact details at all.

Questions buyers ask

Privacy FAQ

What does "anonymous" actually mean here?

Your buyer request is posted with vehicle criteria, a budget band, a ZIP code and a timeline. It carries no name, email, phone number or address. Dealers compete on the deal, not on who can reach you first.

What exactly do dealers see?

Only the fields listed above. Dealers submit an itemized out-the-door offer — selling price, add-ons, doc fee, taxes, registration and title, incentives, trade allowance, and financing terms if relevant — against those criteria.

When is my information shared?

Only when you accept an offer. Selecting a dealer releases your contact details to that one dealership so they can finalize the paperwork with you. Nothing is released automatically or on a timer.

Why do you verify buyers?

Dealers will only put real numbers in writing if they know the request is genuine. Verification confirms a real person is shopping for a car; it is not a credit check and does not affect your credit.

Can I decline every offer?

Yes. There is no obligation to accept anything. If no offer works, you can close the request, change your criteria, or hand it back to Tavo to keep shopping.

Does Tavo take compensation from dealers?

Tavo's recommendations are based on buyer value, not dealer compensation. Our pricing for buyers is on the pricing page. Any commercial arrangements are disclosed there rather than buried in a recommendation.
